releng does auto builds every week. However, due to a bug in the |
12 |
kernel the build box was running there have not been any x86 builds done |
13 |
since the one you mention. That is fixed now, and there should be a |
14 |
build this coming week which should include hardware speech if |
15 |
everything goes as planned. |
16 |
|
17 |
There is an issue which may not allow software speech right away [1]. |
18 |
The issue is that espeak is written in c++ and we need libstdc++ on the |
19 |
cd in order for it to run. That can't happen until all of the |
20 |
dependencies in the portage tree that use it are set up correctly. |

The README on the new cd will tell you how to bring up speech, but |
23 |
basically when you boot the cd there will be a beep when the boot prompt |
24 |
is up, then you will start speech by typing something like this at the |
25 |
boot prompt. |
26 |
|
27 |
gentoo speakup.synth=synthname |
28 |
|
29 |
This will also start espeakup if synthname is soft. |
