Hi James, |
5 |
|
6 |
In the latest versions of the gnome-speech package, the speech |
7 |
synthesizer it uses is selected by setting the appropriate local use |
8 |
flag. It supports espeak by default, festival and freetts. Eloquence |
9 |
(TTSynth) is not supported officially because it is not free and also |
10 |
because it uses very old glibc and hasn't been updated in a very long |
11 |
time. |
12 |
|
13 |
To set up to support festival, for example, do this: |
14 |
|
15 |
echo app-accessibility/gnome-speech -espeak -freetts festival >> |
16 |
/etc/portage/package.keywords |
17 |
|
18 |
The two lines above should be on one line. This should also prevent |
19 |
espeak being pulled in as a dependency. |
20 |
|
21 |
Let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions. |
22 |
|
23 |
Thanks, |
24 |
|
