Hello, |
2 |
I'm trying to get orca going on two gentoo boxes. I got one going, and |
3 |
not sure how. The problem was possibly muted audio, which was solved. |
4 |
Muted audio is not the issue here. |
5 |
On both boxes i run orca --text-setup from a terminal, one gives me |
6 |
speech feedback and it's first question is to select the speech |
7 |
server. If i select gnome-speech that's where it ends, the verbal |
8 |
feedback stops although the program isstill continuing, i have to |
9 |
select speech-dispatcher, not sure why this is. On the secont machine |
10 |
running orca --text-setup takes me past the select default speech |
11 |
server and directly to the select default voice option, and no audio |
12 |
feedback. The second machine does not have speech-dispatcher on it as |
13 |
the first one does. Both machines have the accessibility USE flag set |
14 |
in /etc/make.conf. The machine that's working, using speech-dispatcher |
15 |
is running the default profile, while the other is running the |
16 |
desktop/gnome profile. |
17 |
Suggestions welcome. Some urgency! |
18 |
Thanks. |

Dave. |
