I have finally found the problem. The error is caused by
no-libs-for-startfile.patch due to the multilib part of gcc.
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=224931 has a patch for
sys-devel/gcc-{4.2.3,4.2.4,4.3.0}.
