I had an error message trying to compile gcc 4.1.1 on my own that led me 
to google where I found this problem.  I was just about to install them. 
  I hope that installing these will solve my problem.

Obviously I have a lot to learn about AIX.  I was told once that IBM 
programmers were paid by the line.  I don't know if that's true or not, 
but AIX makes me believe it.
