There are a bunch of packages I'm trying to emerge that pull in binutils |

as a dependency. Granted these are masked packages, so I can see why |

that would be the case, but I'm thinking that I don't want binutils |

pulled in. Even if I do want it pulled in, it fails. |

Out of pure optimism, I'm trying to install mplayer. I doubt it will |

work, but I'm going to try. I've been using --nodeps on a package by |
| 8 |
package basis to leave out binutils but still get everything else. I'm |
| 9 |
sure there's an easier way, but I'm not aware of it yet. |
