I had a similar problem with ROX, and by searching the Gentoo forums I |

discovered it happened because of an incompatibility between ROX 2.2 |

and GTK 2.8.12. If that's the problem you're having, it can be solver |

either by upgrading ROX to 2.4 or downgrading GTK to 2.8.9 or |

thereabouts. |
