Smaller files, less memory needed, a larger user base, ability to run
dosemu, etc.

On account of smaller files and less memory needed, many programs
ought to run faster, but this is countered to some degree especially
by there being fewer registers in the 32-bit mode. Subroutine calls
and register use are much more efficient in the 64-bit mode.

Some cryptography, some signal and image processing, etc., may run
much slower in 32-bit mode, due to the use of long arithmetic.
