I have it installed and had some initial problems with the display. By |
11 |
default Q4 is set to 'seta r_mode "3"', which is supposed to be 640x480. |
12 |
However, on my system (native resolution is 1920x1200), it tried to set |
13 |
640x1200, so half the screen was black. |

Try editing the file, ~/.quake4/q4base/Quake4Config.cfg, and changing |
16 |
the r_mode to "4" or "5". I tried "5", which is 1024x768, and got a |
17 |
whole screen. |
18 |
|
19 |
seta r_mode "5" |
20 |
|
21 |
BTW, if you are using alsa for sound, Q4 sets it to use the default pcm, |
22 |
which sounded pretty crappy on my Audigy2. I switched it to use |
23 |
surround51 and got pretty decent sound. You can change the sound to one |
24 |
of the listed configs in /usr/share/alsa/pcm/*.conf by setting: |
25 |
|
26 |
seta s_alsa_pcm "surround51" |
27 |
|
28 |
in ~/.quake4/q4base/Quake4Config.cfg |
