I have the same model and everything (except the broadcom 54g nic) works great 
including tapping and scrolling on the touchpad. m6809's bios is adequate 
(unlike previous models)

This is a sign of lacking event support in the kernel config, make sure 
CONFIG_INPUT_EVDEV is selected.

cat /proc/bus/input/devices  should show two entries like this:
