You might hold off on AMD cpu purchases, if you trust stuff from anandtech/dailytech. Supposedly, just after you can start buying Intel Conroe/Core 2 CPUs, AMD is going to make a pretty big price cut on most of their Athlon 64/X2 CPUs (however, not the 4400 you were looking at, but the 4200,4600,5000).
