Well, that eliminates /that/ possibility! |

One simple thing to check the last is simply switch monitors. I honestly |
20 |
doubt it's a defective monitor, but that's a fairly simple test since you |
21 |
have another around to test with, and it'd suck to spend all this time |
22 |
working on it only to find out it wasn't the software or config at all, |
23 |
but the hardware. |
24 |
|
25 |
Someone running the NVidia drivers will have to confirm the specific |
26 |
details, but IIRC, I read somewhere that the new xorg isn't entirely |
27 |
supported by some of the binary drivers, including NVidia's. I /know/ |
28 |
that's the case with the still rc stage xorg 7.1, but it might be the case |
29 |
for small stuff like power management with 7.0 as well. I simply don't |
30 |
know, and am bringing it up as one possibility that should be checked. |
31 |
|
32 |
When you run the xset test, are any additional entries logged to your |
33 |
current Xorg.0.log? What about during X launch? Is there anything in the |
34 |
log then about power management (or any warnings or errors that could |
35 |
be related) that might be of interest? |
36 |
|
37 |
The most direct method of eliminating the possibility of a missing ebuild |
38 |
would be to compare notes with another Nvidia user, preferrably one with |
39 |
a similar vidcard, and ideally similar mobo and monitors. While I'm |
40 |
trying to help, since I'm not running and NVIdia card and the slaveryware |
41 |
drivers, the direct comparison method won't work here. |
