Subject:	starting udev takes forever...

When my sytem boot gets to the "The Starting udev..." part, it takes 
forever, why can this be?
i have Gentoo AMD64 2006.0 with gentoo-sources-2.6.16-r13 (installed 
with liveCD)

any help would be greatly appreciated
