Maybe it's certain CFLAGS on GRUB, too? Particularly on x86, with all the |

different varieties of CPU that are x86. I've found a quite a number of |

issues with CFLAGS that affect (at least some) x86 that simply aren't a |

problem on amd64. Of course, in a few years, there will be all sorts of |
14 |
extensions for amd64 as well, and it'll be nearly as bad as x86 is today. |

However, it's nice to savor the uncomplicated arch, where everything on |

the arch works the same, while we can. It's already going away, tho, with |
17 |
Intel's version, and with the next-gen AMDs coming out soon as well, |

rearchitected for DDR2 and otherwise tweaked. |

Anyway, can't argue with it if it worked, but I've certainly never had an |
