Yes, it was me!
I had forgotten about that but at the time I "solved" the problem like
this:
emerge -C net-misc/whois
emerge net-misc/jwhois
In the current occasion I did the network test with tracepath(8) and
was going to (intentionally) forget about the issue, because I don't
use traceroute often. Now that you found a pattern in the behavior of
my system my curiosity became bigger that my laziness and I'll try to
figure out what's going on.
