I upgraded from 2.6.15-r3 to 2.6.16-r7 yesterday. I have sound - had to
do an update-modules as welli. I have not seen either issue. But, Michal's
problem with sound is probably because of the system not being able to
generate /etc/modprobe.conf.
Perhaps deleting (move the original out of /etc) and re-trying it?
Re-emerge - sys-apps/module-init-tools?
Or perhaps - revdep-rebuild -p, is necessary?
And, the assumption is that both have done - etc-update or dispatch-conf?
