If by stage 1 and stage 2 you mean livecd-stage1 and livecd-stage2, then
yes. It might also be much easier if you specified these, rather than
calling them stage1 and stage2, as there are already stage1 and stage2
targets and it can get a bit confusing.

Yes. It will be made from your $PORTDIR, wherever that may be.
