I guess you could use /etc/portage/profile/package.provided - you just
put the dependency you satisfy on your own there and the package
should be fine with it (if it is really supposed to work, I have no
experience with the packages you're talking about). I'm no gentoo
expert so if there are more knowledgable people than me out there
please raise your voices ;)
