The fonts issue should probably postponed until after an overhaul of the
current font handling on ebuild level is done, which is in the works
right now. Only then there's a basis to work on aesthetic issues.
Can i propose one more issue to be discussed : the implementation of
GLEP 16 (http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/glep/glep-0016.html). Which seems
like an ideal defining showcase of what desktop research should be
trying to do.
