This may not help a whole lot now, but Xorg 7.0 is slated to contain a |

reverse-engineered, open-source driver for the latest ATI cards. It |

doesn't work with PCIE yet, however. |

Also as Chris suggested, you ought to check the various locations for |

errors/problems before giving up -- Xorg.0.log, dmesg, your kernel config. |
