After a major system upgrade, evolution is now freezing on startup with the |
2 |
following messages: |
3 |
|
4 |
$ evolution mail |
5 |
Bonobo accessibility support initialized |
6 |
GTK Accessibility Module initialized |
7 |
CalDAV Eplugin starting up ... |
8 |
|
9 |
(evolution-2.6:11126): camel-WARNING **: camel_exception_get_id called with |
10 |
NULL parameter. |
11 |
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0xbfe175b0 *** |

I had problems with evolution freezing/crashing, reporting calls to free() on |
15 |
an invalid pointer before, and upgraded from evo 2.4 to 2.6 a few weeks ago |
16 |
when the latter was still ~x86. 2.6 worked OK before the system upgrade, but |
17 |
it's now behaving like v2.4 did, at least it is when invoked from a KDE Konsole |
18 |
window (gnome is down at the moment). |
19 |
|
20 |
Two questions: |
21 |
|
22 |
1. Does anyone know how to fix the problem and make evolution-2.6.2 run, or |
23 |
have any suggestions of things I might try? |
24 |
|
25 |
2. If not, can someone recommend another Linux groupware suite with the same |
26 |
capabilities and which can (hopefully) import the calendar files from |
27 |
evolution? |
28 |
|
29 |
It may be worth noting that if I set MALLOC_CHECK_=0, evolution crashes instead |
30 |
of freezing and offers to run bug-buddy. If I click "Inform developers", |
31 |
bug-buddy gets invoked and it also crashes. |
32 |
|
33 |
I'm running this stuff under KDE, pending a repair and restoration of my gnome |
34 |
desktop. It may work better in gnome, I don't know. |
