Interesting timing for the 'kernel-2 eclass gross hack' thread- Glep 25,
a proposal for implementing distfile patching support is now available
at http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/glep/glep-0025.html .

The previous glep for distfile patching support (Glep9, Gentoo Package
Update System) has languished, and this is a new attempt at it.

It's still draft status, and portions of it need ironing out- any
feedback would be greatly appreciated.
