1 | I installed gentoo a week or so ago, and I just did an emerge update today for |
2 | the first time. While doing so I came across a major bug. Every customization |
3 | I had under /etc was overwritten. Even /etc/passwd! I don't know if it is |
4 | being worked on, but I believe the correct behavior would be to have anything |
5 | destined for the /etc directory to be installed into a fake etc, say |
6 | /tmp/portage/etc, and then use something like FreeBSD's mergemaster to do the |
7 | update. |
