Subject: [gentoo-dev] USE flags -> USE file?

Hello.

I've been thinking it over, and wondering if it might well be more
advantageous to use a file with per-package USE flags rather than one
set of USE flags. This would allow, for instance, some packages to be
built with certain options while keeping the same options shut off in
other packages.
Of course, there could always be a global section, for convenience.
Additionally, it would be clearer what each flag does, since it could be
explained per package, which reflects the nature of the build options
in a package.
Just a thought.

"Asked by CollabNet CTO Brian Behlendorf whether Microsoft will enforce its
patents against open source projects, Mundie replied, 'Yes, absolutely.'
An audience member pointed out that many open source projects aren't
funded and so can't afford legal representation to rival Microsoft's. 'Oh
well,' said Mundie. 'Get your money, and let's go to court.'
