[gentoo-dev] phoenix/mozilla plugin compatibility

Hey guys,

i worked pretty hard to establish the phoenix/mozilla plugin
compatibility. Compatibility means that both phoenix and mozilla use the
same plugins. Plugins will now get installed into
/usr/lib/nsbrowsers/plugins - you can use "inst_plugin()" from
nsplugins.eclass to do that.

If you want to do me a favour, test the following packages with phoenix
and mozilla please:

=dev-java/ibm-jre-1.3.1-r2
=dev-java/blackdown-jre-1.3.1-r8
=dev-java/blackdown-jdk-1.4.1_beta-r1
=dev-java/blackdown-jdk-1.3.1-r8
(The plugins are masked in package.mask AND are in the unstable x86
profile)

To test them with phoenix, simply merge "phoenix-bin-20021121" (unstable
x86 profile) and the plugins you want to test. Once you merged the
plugins, run "/usr/bin/phoenix" and use "about:plugins" as URI in
phoenix.

It should show you the plugins you merged - further testing (eg.: test
them with appropriate content) would be nice.

Note: You'll always get the java-plugin from the latest java package you
merged. Fex, if you run "emerge \=ibm-jre-1.3.1-r2" and after that
"emerge \=blackdown-jdk-1.3.1-r8", you'll get the blackdown plugin.
Thats a problem i'm working on right now - looks like java-config needs
some modification.
