While trying to get lilypond to compile, I tried to emerge guile-1.5.4 |

but it kept coming up with errors about unknown host type. There is a |

bug filed for this for the alpha arch, though I'm on x86. It appears |

to be caused by the configure script not being able to handle being |
| 7 |
passed 'CFLAGS=blah' where blah in my case was "-march=i686 -O3 -pipe" |
| 8 |
which was passed as part of "$@" to configure by econf, as far as I |
| 9 |
can tell. |
