It seemed simple -- a quick 'emerge abiword', then to get on |
2 |
with writing my book. But now, I have spent approximately |
3 |
half an hour dealing with this absurdity. Turns out ibiblio |
4 |
has replaced the source for pspell with a friendly page |
5 |
asking me what my preferred mirror is, and redirecting me to |
6 |
the _real_ file. This is totally unacceptable. Linx thinks |
7 |
it's a gzipped tarball, because of its extension -- and who |
8 |
can blame it? -- and attempts to download it. After saving |
9 |
the file and, on a hunch, renaming it to .html, Lynx finally |
10 |
reads it -- but emerge still barfs, not even checking what |
11 |
type of file it is before doing the md5sum -- and who can |
12 |
blame it? |
13 |
|
14 |
Nevertheless, this must be fixed. There are two ways of |
15 |
fixing it -- bother ibiblio until they get rid of their |
16 |
nice, friendly page, or replace every reference to every |
17 |
file this has affected with a reference to the real file. |
18 |
It seems obvious which one to do, but as my XWindows is |
19 |
down, I have been browsing with Lynx. Their contact page is |
20 |
extremely unhelpful with Lynx, helpful as it might (emphasis |
21 |
on 'might') be later. |
22 |
|
23 |
They're your mirror, so I suggest you complain to them. |
24 |
Until then, it's back to Windows -- and a precompiled |
25 |
Windows binary. |
