Hi,

I was wondering whether there ary any plans to enhance the SGML- and
XML-related tools of the Portage tree? Here's a list of proposals:

(1) Split the app-text/openjade package into opensp (the SGML parser)
and openjade (the Jade engine).

(2) Update the versions to the latest releases, OpenSP 1.5 and
OpenJade 1.3.2.

(3) Once we have OpenSP 1.5, make use of the DTDDECL directive in the
catalog files! As is, it is extremely cumbersome to process DTDs
with differing SGML declarations.

(4) If the use flag SGML is set, register XML DTDs with the SGML
parser as well.

(5) Clean up the extremely messy DocBook catalog, which is "too big"
at best.

(6) Update the various ebuilds for standard DTDs.

I am willing to help in the process as much as possible, but I have
very limited ebuild/python/whatever knowledge, so I cannot do much
more than advice and test.

Any takers?
