Subject: getting involved and thanks
Date: 01 Feb 2002 14:04:39 -0600
Howdy. I just installed Gentoo a few days ago and I am *totally*
impressed! Previously I have been using debian/redhat/slack, but after
discovering Gentoo, I think I have finally found a home.
Congratualations to everyone involved for an excellent distro!

I'd like to get more involved with gentoo's development. Specifically, I
would like to package java related stuff (eg. Jboss, other app servers,
misc lib jars etc.). I guess I would learn to package stuff up locally
initially. Could someone point me in the right direction for newbie
maintainer docs etc. perhaps a tutorial? So far I have been reading
through the ebuild files in portage to get an idea.

Thanks again
Matt
