I'm also still not convinced that this is really against the FHS. I think this |

could be a border case that just falls in or out the FHS. The FHS forbids |

direct children directories of /usr, but /usr/kde/3.3 is not a direct child. |

Maybe it is not in the exact spirit of FHS, but as far as I know the FHS |

people have also not offered any sensible solution for kde, qt etc. yet. They |

also DO NOT belong in /opt, as they are not standalone packages (let alone |

binary which is the gentoo requirement (sort of)) |
