Gday all, |
2 |
|
3 |
Just wondering what the status of this call for developers was. |
4 |
I replied a few days ago and was wondering how the sift through |
5 |
volunteers was going. I have recieved no reply yet. A small |
6 |
update on progress may just inform people of the status of |
7 |
their offer. |
8 |
|
9 |
May I suggest next time that a better idea maybe to set up an email |
10 |
address say dev-volunteers@g.o, so that at least a reply with |
11 |
a simple "Thanks for your offer we will look at it soon." can be delivered. |
12 |
Just so people are not left hanging wondering if seemant even got the offer. |
13 |
|
14 |
Just an idea, but maybe a handy one considering the evergrowing |
15 |
community behind Gentoo. |
16 |
|
17 |
Cheers, |
18 |
|

Subject: [gentoo-dev] Call for Developers |
29 |
|
30 |
|
31 |
Hello Everyone, |
32 |
|
33 |
As you may have noticed, Gentoo is growing rapidly. And with the growth, |
34 |
our need for new developers. Currently, we are seeking people in the |
35 |
following categories: |
36 |
|
37 |
1. Watchers (open positions: 5): People who will watch for updates in |
38 |
specific categories in the portage tree and either update accordingly, or |
39 |
inform the maintainers of the packages. Additionally, these individuals |
40 |
will watch for ~x86 to x86 transitions, and again update accordingly, or |
41 |
communicate with the maintainers. |
42 |
|
43 |
2. Programmers (open positions: 1 or 2) who can take over maintainership of |
44 |
gentoo-stats and gentoo-stable websites. Currently, both pages are |
45 |
java-based. Choice of language is not important. These pages need to be |
46 |
fixed of any broken-ness, and then maintained so that more and more users |
47 |
can use them. |
48 |
|
49 |
3. Programmer (open position: 1) who can take over the ufed utility for USE |
50 |
flags. There are many changes being made to USE flags, including the |
51 |
addition of /usr/portage/use.local.desc which need to be incorporated into |
52 |
Ufed. Additionally, there are a few bugs to be ironed out in it. |
53 |
|
54 |
4. Someone to assist with emacs/xemacs (category) maintainership. |
55 |
|
56 |
If you are interested in any of these, please e-mail me directly, and not |
57 |
the mailing list. |
58 |
|
59 |
Thanks, |
60 |
|
