While talking installer, heres a thought: |
2 |
|
3 |
Currently you can pick a few profiles when you install gentoo. How about |
4 |
installing profiles via emerge? |
5 |
|
6 |
ex. |
7 |
|
8 |
# emerge sys-profiles/small-tightly-packed-email-server |
9 |
# emerge profile |
10 |
(renaming the system target to profile) |
11 |
|
12 |
And for a somewhat diffrent topic: |
13 |
|
14 |
why was the stable-unstable-masked scheme done the way it was? Wouldnt it be |
15 |
easier to fork the ebuildtree into seperate trees? |
16 |
|
17 |
ex. |
18 |
|
19 |
# emerge stable/sys-apps/baselayout |
20 |
# emerge all/x11-wm/ion-devel |
21 |
# emerge local/x11-wm/testpackage |
22 |
|
23 |
This would allow everyone and his dog to have his own seperate tree of what |
24 |
he thinks is stable/suitable. |
