My new computer just arrived, so I've been busy installing |
2 |
Gentoo on it the last day or so. I came across a strange Grub problem: |
3 |
With the current version of grub (0.5.96.1-r4) and a /boot partition |
4 |
on /dev/hda2 (/ on /dev/hda3), grub failed at the "setup (hd0)" step |
5 |
with "error 22: partition not found". Grub did seem to be mostly |
6 |
installed, since I could boot into the grub prompt and then do |
7 |
"root (hd0,1)", "kernel /bzImage", and "boot root=/dev/hda3" |
8 |
by hand. Has anybody seen this sort of problem? |
9 |
|
10 |
I finally gave up, wiped /boot, created the grub-0.90 ebuild, |
11 |
and it worked flawlessly (note to stupid people like me out there-- |
12 |
don't forget to recopy the kernel to /boot after you've wiped /boot!). |
13 |
In making the new ebuild I ignored the patch. Does anybody know |
14 |
why the patch was there? |
15 |
|
16 |
Thanks, |
17 |
