Hmm, thats why the glibc-2.2.3 package is blocked if you try to install
it with emerge. I posted a mail
about that new glibc package here too. It was not tested.

There is a binary package for glibc-2.2.2 available in the
snapshots/sys-libs subdir. The bootcd contains
network modules and the required binaries to setup network manually. So
it should be possible to grab the
binary package and install it to your root partition. You must use tar
xvjf because the package format has changed. You can ignore the trailing
garbage errors tar puts out. We store additional package info at the
end of the tarball that tar does not understand.
