1 "emerge -s" foo.bar will search for foo.bar in the portage tree...

3 qpkg does even more sophisticated searches (man qpkg after an emerge
4 gentoolkit)

6 emerge kportage gives you a full graphical interface for searching,
7 browsing etc.
