Subject: [gentoo-dev] X11TransSocketOpen

Message-Id: 200404031120.43145.scowles@earthlink.net
When I attempt to open an X application, I get the following error messages:

_X11TransSocketOpen: socket() failed for tcp
_X11TransSocketOpenCOTSClient: Unable to open socket for tcp
_X11TransOpen: transport open failed for tcp/localhost:10
xterm Xt error: Can't open display: localhost:10.0

I am running 1.4 on an old-world ppc mac (output from uname -a is:
Linux mac8550 2.4.20-ppc-r3 #2 Wed Apr 23 20:43:21 PDT 2003 ppc 604 Power
Macintosh GNU/Linux). The example above comes from an ssh connection to the
machine. Other hosts on the same subnet have no problem displaying.

Would anyone be able to provide information about what I should do to correct
this problem or look for additional diagnostics? Is there a config file I've
forgotten to adjust?

Thanks.
