I've recently got gentoo running on my xbox (for a summary see
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45100). There are ebuilds for kernel,
boot loader, lirc drivers, alsa-drivers, flashing the onboard rom, and
building bootable CDs, and essential stuff like freevo and pydance have been
tested :)

The submission has been marked WONTFIX with the comment that gentoox is the
place for gentoo on the xbox, although the comment "It would take a lot of
hacking to get gentoox to use portage" clearly indicates that gentoox is not
gentoo. Gentoox is a distribution built using gentoo, it includes some
non-gentoo features (downloading prebuilt binaries (no source offered),
overwriting config files), some things that are securitywise a bad idea
(downloading shell scripts from web sites and executing them as root), and a
package management system that runs parallel to portage but doesn't interact
with it, so you end up with two systems overwriting each others files, which
leads to installation chaos.

I'd like to see support for real gentoo on the xbox in portage. If anyone else
is interested all of the ebuilds are currently sitting on bugs.gentoo.org.
