Here's the updated version of my proposition:
default/linux: LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1,--hash-style=gnu,--sort-common"
default/linux/mips: LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1,--sort-common"
hardened/linux: LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1,--hash-style=gnu,--sort-common"
uclibc: LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1,--sort-common"
