Yes, you are referring to
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=326275 I do believe this was
already mentioned in the thread. :)

On my build host, I have made preserve_old_lib() do nothing because I
expect my build host to always have the proper linking and it can
tolerate temp breakage as long as my client gets the proper packages in
the end.
