That's a separate known problem with our xfree 4.2.1 ebuild. It's been fixed 
in the ebuild, but since it's masked there's been no new revision. You have 
to delete /usr/X11R6/lib/libz.a - it's an ancient version of zlib that 
shouldn't be isntalled at all.
