hey i just was to say first of all that gentoo linux is pretty sweet. |
2 |
it's a nice middle ground for people who've only used redhat and the |
3 |
like but want to know more about linux. |
4 |
|
5 |
anyway the reason i'm writing is that i think there should be a guide up |
6 |
about how to manually compile XFree86 to use tdfx direct rendering |
7 |
infrastructure. |
8 |
|
9 |
as you might expect, i had to install glide, install glide-v5, decompile |
10 |
xfree86, edit the host.def, and compile xfree86. |
11 |
|
12 |
since i already had the xf86 source from when i emerged it, it wasn't |
13 |
such a bad deal. but i still had to check newsgroups and look around |
14 |
for a couple of days before i figured out how exactly to do it. |
15 |
|
16 |
so if you could throw something up (i'll write if up if you like :p) on |
17 |
the webpage, i'd feel much better about it. |
18 |
|
19 |
thanks |
