Hi,
We occasionaly make modifications to the text that is shown on the forums,
e.g. when a new feature is added. When this is done they are added to the
English language pack, but they are not translated for the other language
packs.
In most cases if the language variable doesn't exist for a particular
language it will default to the English variable, but that doesn't happen in
all cases such as with the FAQ.
We were hoping that we could get some translations done for things that we
add into the other languages that we support:
Simplified Chinese
Traditional Chinese
Danish
Dutch
Esperanto
Finnish
French
German
Greek
Italian
Norwegian
Polish
Portuguese
Russian
Spanish
Swedish
We'd really appreciate your help with this.
To start with we've added some new BBCode tags, which we've added
explainations in the BBCode FAQ. This is the new English entries we've
added:
"Linking within the forums"
"You can link to certain posts, topic or profiles.
- You can use the=
=20
[post=3D][/post] tag for directly linking to a post; adding the post=
=20
id after the =3D sign will cause the contents of that tag to act as a link=
=20
to that post. For example:
[post=3D1901]guidelines[/post]
This would generate=
=20
the following link:=20
guidelines
- If you don't use the =3D sign the text \"post post_id\" is used as=
=20
the link text:
[post]1901[/post]
This=
=20
would generate the following link:=20
post 1901
- You can use the [topic=3D][/topic] tag for directly linking=
=20
to a topic; adding the topic id after the =3D sign will cause the contents=
=20
of that tag to act as a link to that topic. For example:
[topic=3D525]guidelines[/topic]
This would generat=
e=20
the following link:=20
guidelines
- If you don't use the =3D sign the text \"topic topic_id\" is used as th=
e=20
link text:
[topic]525[/topic]
This=20
would generate the following link:=20
topic 525
- You can use the [profile=3D][/profile] tag for directly linking=
=20
to a user's profile; adding the user id after the =3D sign will cause the=
=20
contents of that tag to act as a link to that profile. For example:
[profile=3D30593]tomk's profile[/profile]
This would generate the following link:=20
tomk's profile - If you don't use the =3D sign the text=20
\"user user_id\" is used as the link text:
[profile]30593[/profile]
This would generate the=
=20
following link:=20
user=20
30593
"
"Linking to Gentoo pages"
"You can link to certain Gentoo pages:=20

y=20
linking to a bug in Gentoo's bugzilla; adding the bug id after the =3D sign=

will cause the contents of that tag to act as a link to that bug. For=20
example:
[bug=3D100001]Larry the Cow has suffered an udde=

This would generate the following link:=
=20
Larry the C=
ow=20
has suffered an udder amputation - If you don't use the =3D sign=
=20
the text \"bug bug_id\" is used as the link text:

This would generate the followin=

=20
100001 - You can use the [glsa=3D][/glsa] tag for directly=
=20
linking to a GLSA; adding the GLSA id after the =3D sign will cause the=20
contents of that tag to act as a link to that GLSA. For example:
[glsa=3D200509-06]Squid: Denial of Service vulnerabilities[/glsa]=
This would generate the following link:=20
Squid: Denial of Service vulnerabilities - If=
=20
you don't use the =3D sign the text \"GLSA GLSA_id\" is used as the link te=
xt:
[glsa]200509-06[/glsa]
This would=20
generate the following link:=20
GLSA 200509-06 - You can use the=20
[gwn=3D][/gwn] tag for directly linking to an issue of the GWN;=20
adding the user id after the =3D sign will cause the contents of that tag t=
o=20
act as a link to that GWN. For example:
[gwn=3D20050905]Gentoo Weekly Newsletter: September 5th, 2005[/gw=
n]
This would generate the following link:=20
Gentoo Weekly Newsletter: September 5th, 2005
- If you don't use the =3D sign the text \"GWN GWN_id\" is used as the li=
nk=20
text:
[gwn]20050905[/gwn]
This would=20
generate the following link:=20
GWN 20050905 - You can use the=20
[glep=3D][/glep] tag for directly linking to a GLEP; adding the GLEP=
=20
id after the =3D sign will cause the contents of that tag to act as a link=
=20
to that GLEP. For example:
[glep=3D0040]Standardizing=20
\"arch\" keywording across all archs.[/glep]
This would=
=20
generate the following link:=20
Standardizing \"arch\" keywording across all archs.
- If you don't use the =3D sign the text \"GLEP GLEP_id\" is used as=
=20
the link text:
[glep]0040[/glep]
This=
=20
would generate the following link:=20
GLEP 0040
"
In the cases where an =3D sign isn't used then the text that is added (e.g.
bug 100001) will be added in English, so don't translate those words.
Thanks again.
Tom
