Subject: AMD64 (SMP) - installation handbook
Date: Tue, 21 Feb 2006 13:01:44 +0100
Hi,
There's aproblem with amd64 SMP kernel, if CONFIG_X86_PM_TIMER is not
set. then the timer sometimes goes crazy and a single keypress causes
multiple characters. See http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6104
So I'd like to propose that in the amd64 installation hanbook part 1
chapter 7c (manual kernel configuration) a line should be added, wich says:
If you're building a SMP kernel be sure that CONFIG_X86_PM_TIMER is enabled.
or something similar.
with best regards
widu
