Hi, GWN told me that GNOME 2.18 is going to be stable within next days: in 
Documentation index is still presente the Guide about upgrading to 2.16. I 
think it would be better replacing it with the new one 
(proj/en/desktop/gnome/howtos/gnome-2.18-upgrade.xml ) :)
