10 As written by Natanael, baselayout-2 works great and does everything you
11 asked about. Concerning the mdev stuff: if you think, there is something
12 missing, just have a look at the scripts I send on this list and try a
13 little bit out. It is not really hard and you can adapt or expand the
14 scripts quite easily to your hardware. If you do something like this,
15 please send it on this list.

17 On the other hand, if you want "complete" device file support without
18 writing scripts for mdev, you can use of course udev. Of course it
19 increases the size of your embedded system, but if you can afford this,
20 then just use it. It is fully supported by Gentoo (which is not the case
21 with mdev), so you should have no problems.
