I've finaly got the ebuild for buildroot creating a gcc-config compatible 
toolchain for uclibc. Refer to bug 29312 (http://bugs.gentoo.org/
show_bug.cgi?id=29312) for details.

At the moment I get TARGET_ARCH="arm" failing with an error:

/var/tmp/portage/uclibc-buildroot-0.9.23/work/buildroot/staging_dir/bin/
arm-linux-ld: ERROR: /var/tmp/portage/uclibc-buildroot-0.9.23/work/buildroot/
staging_dir/lib/gcc-lib/arm-linux/3.3.2/crtbeginS.o uses hardware FP, whereas 
libpthread-0.9.23.so uses software FP

This is know by the uclibc devs. And they are working on a fix. I'm keen for 
any feedback.

I'm still working out how to get portage using this. Its probably going to be 
something like:

gcc-config i386-uclibc-0.9.23

env ROOT=/var/lib/rootfs_i386/ USE="-java -X -pam -berkdb -tcl -doc
- -nls -ssl -ncurses -pic -gdbm -skey -tcpd -readline -socks5 -crypt -spell 
- -slang" emerge -pv system.


There is probably some hints in http://www.flipturn.org/uclibc.
