For kicks I I rebuilt gnustep-base and gnustep-back-art --
unfortunately, it worked perfectly for me :P

The only thing I can think of for you is glibc is too new and causing
some conflict with the Obj-C runtime.  It would be really weird if your
mactel kernel were causing a problem.
