Sorry Nick,

Here we go,

I had xorg 6.8.0-r1 working with the NV driver, or there was a "patch"
floating around that worked to get the nvdia driver working - I was
actually able to get both up and running - then I went on holidays.
When I came back, the next update I did, updated me to xorg-6.8.0-r3.
and now X won't load - period. It gets killed by pax when attempting
the nvidia-kernel/nvidia glx drivers (which really aren't needed in my
case), and I get the always memorable

(II) LoadModule: "nv"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/nv_drv.so
dlopen: /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/nv_drv.so: undefined symbol:
vgaHWUnmapMem
(EE) Failed to load /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/nv_drv.so

error when attempting the nv module (yes, after rmmod'ing nvidia).

I remember there was a web page/site that had instructions on how to
"manually load" in the xorg.conf file all the "missing" files, but I
can't find that hint around anywhere now.

I'm running a standard gentoo-hardened with the following "development"
versions:

sys-kernel/linux26-headers ~x86
sys-apps/portage ~x86
sys-apps/coldplug ~x86
sys-apps/hotplug ~x86
sys-devel/gcc ~x86
sys-devel/binutils ~x86
sys-devel/binutils-config ~x86
sys-libs/libstdc++-v3 ~x86
sys-libs/glibc ~x86

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Brian.
