Subject: Unmerged gcc
Date: Wed, 19 Sep 2007 11:54:48 +0200
Hi Guys

For reasons that seems a complete mystery to me I lost my compiler after
a emerge --depclean.

As I expected a newer version of gcc had been installed, I just accepted
when depclean wanted to unemerge gcc.

I have this in my log:

1190193076:  *** emerge  depclean
1190193076:  >>> depclean
1190193082: === Unmerging... (sys-devel/automake-1.9.6-r2)
1190193083:  >>> unmerge success: sys-devel/automake-1.9.6-r2
1190193083: === Unmerging... (dev-libs/gmp-4.2.1)
1190193084:  >>> unmerge success: dev-libs/gmp-4.2.1
1190193084: === Unmerging... (dev-libs/mpfr-2.2.0_p16)
1190193085:  >>> unmerge success: dev-libs/mpfr-2.2.0_p16
1190193085: === Unmerging... (sys-devel/gcc-4.1.1-r3)
1190193089:  >>> unmerge success: sys-devel/gcc-4.1.1-r3
1190193089:  *** exiting successfully.
1190193092:  *** terminating.

For reasons I can't really explain I now have no gcc installed, which
leads me to expect, you can appreciate my predicament, as I can't re
emerge gcc without gcc!

Any ideas on what went wrong....and even more important.... how to fix
the problem.
