I'm the one that's been working on the partitioning stuff lately. While the
first release of the installer will support x86 only, all the code I've been
writing has been with other arches (including sparc...I've got a SPARCStation 20
and an Ultra 2) in mind also.
New ideas and approaches are always a good thing. If you think you've got
something to contribute, drop by the #gentoo-installer channel on the Freenode
IRC network and let us know.
